Medisolae-3D is a European  Consortium of 14 partners, from 7 Member States, representing 100+ islands with expertise ranging from INSPIRE, Spatial Data Infrastructures (SDI), GIS & WebGIS technologies, geo-portal expertise and technologies assisting island authorities to capture geodata and 3D images towards providing geospatial information for the project portal services.

 

MedIsolae-3D will incorporate 100 islands in South Europe at the first stage of the implementation.

 

Medisolae 3D first delivers partnerships between public data owners and private companies, dissemination and promotion of the island digital content, a 3D flying-over simulation, linkage to geo-based Internet platforms and transfer of knowledge in SDI technology to islands. 

 

Medisolae-3D then demonstates: 1) the economic viability of GI data sharing and the potential for business developments, 2) the technical feasibility of accessible digital data and SDI's Cooperation and data access unification (based on INSPIRE), 3) the promotion of a homogenised seamlessly spatial data created from different sources, and 4) the value of Medisolae-3D portal and its linkage to geoplatforms.

 

Medisolae-3D finally: 1) harmonises the spatial data of islands and improves the usability and accessibility of standardized spatial information based on INSPIRE guidelines/specifications ISO/TC-211 and OGC guidelines, 2) provides a 3D aerial WebGIS flying-over application capable to be linked to Google Earth™, Virtual Earth™, ESRI ArcGlobe™, and 3) delivers platforms for island virtual-visiting including street-view navigation and close-approach to hotels, beaches, monuments and other islands attributes.
